Anti-Static Bulk Bags
Filling and discharging a bulk bag generates static. Where there is combustible dust or a flammable atmosphere, that is an ignition source. Types B, C and D control it differently — and picking the wrong one is dangerous, not just wasteful.
Static is generated by the process, not the product alone
Every time a bulk bag is filled or discharged, material moving against the fabric generates an electrostatic charge. In most applications that is harmless. Where there is a combustible dust or a flammable atmosphere, it is an ignition source.
FIBC types B, C and D exist to control that charge, and they do it in genuinely different ways.
The three types, plainly
Type B uses fabric with a low breakdown voltage. That prevents propagating brush discharges, the most energetic type. It does not make the bag safe in a flammable atmosphere.
Type C contains interwoven conductive threads and is grounded during filling and discharge. It works well — and only — when that ground connection is made and verified every single time.
Type D uses fabric engineered to dissipate charge safely without any ground connection, which removes the operator procedure from the safety case entirely.
The question we will ask you
Can a ground connection be verified on every fill and every discharge, by every operator, every shift? If the honest answer is no, Type C is the wrong specification for your site no matter what it costs.
